Hip Hop Honors to Return to Vh1!

VH1 just announced that the Hip Hop celebration will make its return after 6 years. The show originally launched in 2004 and has been on hiatus since 2010. “The Hip Hop Honors” has paid tribute to several acts including LL Cool J, Tupac Shakur, Timbaland and more. Well this year they plan to follow that trend with a twist, as this year’s ceremony will celebrate the First ladies of Hip Hop. According to the official press release, the show will “pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers, and trend-setters who lead a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.” The special is being produced by Shakim Compre and Queen Latifah, who will also serve as executive producer along with Mona Scott-Young. Honorees have yet to be announced but, this year’s ceremony will air live from New York City on Monday, July 11, at 9p.m.
