Miley Cyrus & Russell Simmons Team Up to Produce Documentary on Homeless Youth

According to Deadline, the singer and the hip hop mogul have signed on as Executive Producers of Lost in America; a documentary set to bring a larger awareness to homeless youth. The movie was directed by former homeless youth, Rotini Rainwater and follows his four-year trip around the country; interviewing more than 30 youth in 15 cities, as well as members of Congress.

Cyrus is a well known advocate for issues affecting the less fortunate. In 2014 she even created her own non-profit organization, Happy Hippie Foundation, to specifically advocate and fight for the rights of homeless, LGBTQ and vulnerable youth populations. According to Cyrus, "Lost in America is an important film to me and my Happy Hippie Foundation because it helps to build our understanding and compassion for homeless youth. And I think if we had that acceptance and compassion, we could change and brighten the futures of these young people.”

Lost in America is due to hit theater later this month. Cyrus is set to appear alongside stars Halle Berry, Rosario Dawson, Jewel, Jon Bon Jovi, Sanaa Lathan and Rebecca Gayheart-Dane.
