Afrochella, presented by the Culture Management Group, was created to showcase the many talents that come from and that are within Africa. It offers a very interactive environment while encouraging the participants to network and collaborate with one another in attempts to spread knowledge about their culture. The festival covers segments such as:

  • Art and Fashion Installations

  • Live Painting

  • The Best of African Cuisine

  • Live Performances

The purpose of this is festival is to tell the New African story from a native’s perspective. All aspects of the festival are representation of the available services in Africa. The goal is to maximize experience while engaging participants with their culture in an innovative way. They offer this life changing experience in efforts to bring people together, whether its tourism or Pro-Africa development.

This year, the festival was held at the El Wak Stadium on December 29, 2018. Before we dive right into the fashions from this riveting festival, there were some comments shared about what we saw. Numerous brands continue to use Africa as a source of inspiration, yet they still fail to recognize Africa on a global scale for their fashion and luxury markets. Naomi Campbell lamented the fact that Vogue has yet to create an edition on the continent, saying, "Africa has never had the opportunity to be out there and their fabrics and their materials and their designs be accepted on the global platform. It shouldn't be that way.” Let’s take a look at some of the most popular street styles captured with the theme of, “Fighting Misconceptions about Ghanaian Fashion.”
