Coming to America Reboot: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Coming to America is really a thing, this is no joke! With Eddie Murphy returning to star as Akeem, the sequel will now be called, Coming 2 America. Craig Brewer is set as the director, and the sequel continues the story of Akeem, an African prince who blew off his marriage to seek true love in Queens. Kenya Barris, the creator of Black-ish, rewrote the screenplay by the original movie writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield. The movie was about Akeem being a king who must take his son to America, but now it appears the plot will instead be about a long lost heir. Deadline wrote it’s now about “a long lost son, and Akeem must return to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.”

Now onto the part y’all been waiting for, who’s acting in this new reboot ?! Well many sources and the actors and actresses themselves have confirmed that Louie Anderson has confirmed his role as original movie character Maurice, a jagged-life fast-food employee in an interview with TMZ. Garcelle Beauvais has confirmed her role in the original movie character Rose Bearer. Vanessa Bell Calloway has also confirmed her role as the original movie character Imani Izzi, Akeem’s originally selected bride-to-be. Lastly, John Amos has also confirmed his role as his original movie character Cleo McDowell, the owner of Harlem’s fast-food joint, McDowell’s and the father of Akeem’s bride-to-be, Lisa. And now, for the new actors and actresses that have been also cast was Teyanna Taylor, Michael Blackson, Rotimi, Tracy Morgan, Shari Headley, Nomzamo Mbatha, Rick Ross, James Earl Jones, Jermaine Fowler, Kiki Layne, and Leslie Jones to set in an unspecified role in the new sequel. Plus, Wesley Snipes will also be joining the cast of the comedy sequel partaking in a quick reunion. Snipes will be playing a new character, General Izzi, the ruler of a neighboring nation to Akeem’s home of Zamunda. Coming 2 America is set to arrive in theaters on August 7, 2020. And as you may see and tell, the sequel has remained the original actors and actresses in the original Coming to America cast.
