2020 Stellar Awards!

It's my favorite time of the year! Yes, you may have guessed it. But if not, it's time for the 35th Annual Stellar Awards. The “Gospel Grammys” as I call it, where various artists come together under one roof for none other than the celebration of our Lord! This years Stellar Awards will be tapped on Friday March 27th, 2020 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada!

This years show features nominations from Donald Lawrence Presents the Tri-City Singers, Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Bishop Paul S. Morton, John P. Kee and many more. Donald Lawrence takes the lead with 9 nominations in categories Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Unban/Inspirational Single or Performance of the Year with “Deliver Me (This is My Exodus)”, Album of the Year, Choir of the Year, Producer of the Year, Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary Album of the Year, and Contemporary Choir of the Year. Stellar Award Host Kirk Franklin comes in right behind him with 8 nominations and JJ Hairston with 7.

Bishop Paul S. Morton and John P. Kee are on the rise with choir praise music, keeping our heads boppin and hands raised. Morton’s recent album A Month of Sundays and Kee’s I Made It Out has definitely been on replay; not only for me, but on the radio as well.

In the contemporary realm of artists Kurt Karr and the Kurt Karr Singers, William Murphy, and Pastor Mike Jr. each have 4 nominations.

This years James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to the iconic Clark Sisters. The Clark Sisters started singing back in the 60’s under the leadership of the Late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, their mother.

These ladies paved the way for many artists today, both Gospel and R&B, so it only makes sense they should be honored this way. The Clark Sisters continue inspiring us with their music and their legacy. We are all aware of Karen’s son and daughter Kierra and JDrew Sheard, who has played and produced various Clark Sisters songs. This year is sure to be nothing less than an amazing night for Gospel artists. There's a variety of talent, as usual in this years Stellar Awards and I can’t wait to see everyone there!
