Meet the Squad

The Divah Filez was created to give HBCU Students an outlet to express there favorite subjects and topics. This team runs the show. Students write each story and conduct every interview. No company is complete without the successful team that is behind it. That's why at the Divah Filez we have "Le Creme' de le Creme'" of writing staff behind every story. These HBCU Students were carefully selected from a pool of applicants from HBCU's around the country. Creator & Founder

Jazmyne Byrd is an award winning journalist and writer for several successful online and print publications including Sister 2 Sister and The Hype Magazine.  Jazz created this opportunity for HBCU Students to build efficient and professional writing portfolios. She's a Central State University C/O 2009 Graduate with a B.A in Psychology and Communications.

Editor-in-cheif hottrax & the buzz

Deszane’ Flowers is a recent graduate with a BS in Political Science. She is currently attending Pepperdine Law School perusing her Master's in Legal Studies. She hopes to become a paralegal after graduation, working at a corporate law firm.

Milan Richardson

Milan Richardson is in her third year at the Illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in marketing. Milan is very involved on campus; as she is the current community service chair for her school’s chapter of NABJ, served as a freelance publicist for many organizations on campus such as the Residence and Housing department, and has recently founded her own mentorship program. With her animated personality and love for music, she hopes to host red carpet events and do Artist and Repertoire
development for upcoming performers. Upon graduation, she plans to continue her education by earning a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication.

Kambria Harris

Kambria Jolly-Harris, referred to as “Kami” by most, is a 19-year-old Journalism & Mass Communications student at the illustrious NC A&T State University, with a concentration in Mass Media Production. Reporting to you live from the 2-5, she is from Wilson, NC. She has a passion for music production and songwriting, so it might not surprise you that she's a writer for the Hottrax section for The Divah Filez.

Ke’Andrea Williams is a Hottrax writer from Ozark, Alabama. She is a recent Digital Journalism graduate from Miles College. Ke’Andrea first found her love for music when she started playing music in band from middle school through high school. She loves to write, read, eat peculiar foods, and travel. Ke’Andrea dreams of one day of becoming a prominent icon in the entertainment industry as a journalist/author, actor, and movie producer!

Ashlan Calvin

Ashlan is from Birmingham Al and is currently a senior at Oakwood University in Huntsville AL. She is majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She chose this field because she enjoys excitement, fast pace environments and everything in the world of communication. Whether, its
broadcast, entertainment, or PR management. It’s all motivation for her to keep going harder. In her free time, she enjoys creative writing and listening to music.

Giana Levy

Giana Levy attends Clark Atlanta University and majors in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Journalism. While attending Clark Atlanta University, she has become more acquainted with her rich black history and black girl magic. Each day she is inspired by black culture, shown black excellence, and is constantly reminded of her importance on the campus and within her community. That feeling of acceptance and knowing that she is “the majority” and not “the minority” is what she loves the most about HBCU’s. Outside of school, she lovse to try different restaurants with her friends, go to the movies, attend women empowerment events, and most importantly, get to know myself better by hanging out in her own space. 

Oliany Mendez

Oliany Mendez is a publicist for the Buzz and Hottrax team. He was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the DC metropolitan area. Oliany is a graduate Bowie State University – the oldest HBCU in the state of Maryland. He currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and minor in Psychology. In his spare time, he enjoys working out and cooking. In the future, Oliany plans to become an entrepreneur and own
his own public relations and marketing firm.

Da'Zhane Johnson

Da’Zhane Johnson is a sophomore at Clark Atlanta University majoring in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in journalism. At her beloved university she is an active writer for her Campus, a member of Breaking the Cycle, and a member of the National Association of Black Journalism. Johnson aspires to be the Editor-in-Chief of Vice Magazine. In her free time, she relaxes by painting, singing, and dancing.

Arion McCullough

Arion McCullough is a rising senior at Oakwood University, in Huntsville, Alabama, where she majors in Broadcast Journalism and Marketing. Arion is an upbeat female who enjoys watching Netflix, reading books, spending time with her friends, and shopping for new clothes. Although she is not sure where she wants to be once out of college, she knows that she wants to work in the entertainment industry and be able to use her creative abilities. Arion is excited to serve as a writer for “The Buzz” because she loves entertainment news and keeping others informed of what is happening in the world of celebrities.

Nyle Young also know as Nyle Boogie is originally from the 757! She graduated from Virginia Union University in 2018 with her Bachelors in Mass Communications/Broadcast Journalism. Currently, Boogie has her own brand entitled “Oh Word” Nyle Boogie! A blog/vlog about everything sports, music, entertainment, and politics. She also has her own sports radio show called “4th Quarter Run Down” on www.cruzincradio.com. In the future, Boogie wants to become a NBA journalist/reporter. She also would like to become a General Manager or part owner of an NBA team as well.

Mattelyn H. Bond is a recent graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a B.A. Communication Studies. She plans to move to Charolette and live in the big city, while attending Graduate School at Regent University. In the next 5 years, she wants to have a job as a Sports Reporter or a Big Name Company such as FOX, CNN, or ESPN.

She attends one of the Illustrious HBCU Alabama State University. She's majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in Radio/Television. Liv Duncan

Liv Duncan is a sophomore Mass Media Arts and Communications major, minoring in Journalism at the illustrious Clark Atlanta University. She was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts where she found her love for writing. You can find her articles under HBCU Newz. Liv is a rising journalist, poet and entrepreneur as well as an advocate for Black Culture and Community. She has her very own blog “Brown Sugar & Tea” (brownsugarandtea.blog) where she shares her life experiences and aspiration while highlighting other inspiring Black people. She is also the creator and owner of, “Brown Sugaa Beauties,” where she sells her own lashes, bonnets, t-shirts and more. Makayla Juniel

Makayla Juniel is a junior, Apparel Design and Merchandising major, at Alabama A&M
University. She is a Colorado native, who strongly values family, friendship, and helping others whom have poured knowledge into her. In her free time she enjoys networking with goal-oriented individuals, shopping, and watching horror films. Her future career goals are to be a Personal Shopper and Wardrobe Stylist.

Morgan Kirksey is a junior fashion merchandising major at thee Illustrious Clark Atlanta University. In her free time, she enjoys shopping, styling friends, and having fun. She is a girl who is obsessed with fashion. Whether it’s clothes, shoes, makeup looks, or even nails. she aspires to be a celebrity stylist while being the creative director of herown brand. She loves HBCUs because the experience is like no other. The Atlanta University Center is one of the best places to be!

Destiny Brown

Destiny Brown is a writer for Fashion Gawdz. She is from from the holy city of Charleston, SC and is a SC State Alumna. In her free time she likes to read and try new things!
