Who remembers this movie?
Anyone who loves the 90s has to have this movie in their top 10 favorite kids movies. When it was revealed that there was going to be a remake, some people didn’t know how to feel. Often, when there is a remake, it doesn’t live up to the same expectations as the original. But, it also has a new age, modern feel and approach to where it will appeal to the new generations. Let’s be honest though, it’s Jumanji; they already tried a remake back in 2005 with a movie called Zathura which didn’t do all that great; only making 64.5 million at the box office when it cost 65 million to make. As stated, tons of Jumanji fans were apprehensive about this Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
Many people assumed that this was going to serve as the remake for Jumanji, but it’s very hard to remake a classic. So, what director Jake Kasdan decided to do was a sequel 22 years later.
We all remember how Jumanji, the board game was found on some island far away after Robin Williams and the gang won? Well this delightful group, which features Kevin Hart and The Rock, find the game and play in a basement while serving detention. An interesting twist though? Viewers follow the group as they are trapped inside the game. Basically, moviegoers get to experience what Robin Williams experienced when he was trapped in the game for 30 years! This is what got so many fans interested because who didn’t wonder about what happened to Robin while he was trapped in the game?
Look out for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle set to release later on this year with a tribute to the late great Robin Williams.
