Super Bowl LIX: It’s Eagles Vs. Chiefs in New Orleans

On February 9th, the Philadelphia Eagles will be going against the Kansas City Chiefs in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana at 6:30pm Eastern time. This will be not only a revenge game from 2023 when the Eagles lost against Chiefs with a final score of 38-35, but also a 3-peat game for the Kansas City Chiefs, which means this will be the first in history of the NFL that a team will win three times in a row.  Being as though Andy Reid used to be a coach for the Eagles for 14 consecutive years from 1999-2012 and is now head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, Reid could know some tricks about the Eagles that maybe head coach for the Eagles Nick Sirani may not. But the Eagles may have more of an advantage this game because this is their second time playing the Chiefs, and now that the team has new players and have a new mindset of how to play the game, they could have a chance to win Super Bowl LIX. 

The Chiefs are a good team, with one of the top quarterbacks on their team with also a great team of coaches, but everyone questions, How do they continue to win? According to Paul Higham from BBC Sports, he states that Reid has “tweaked and developed his squad to build a commanding dynasty”. Also with Travis Kelce on the team they have strong leadership that is leading the team with confidence that they will have a historic ending.  Their strength as a team is the confidence of knowing what their team consists of whether they win or lose. Even though this is a revenge game, the Chiefs have a 50/50 chance that they could beat the Eagles, just based off of confidence and coaching.

Overall, the Eagles may have a better chance at this game, because not only were their team rebranded as whole with new players and leadership, but they have one of the best defensive teams in the NFL. The Eagles have key players such as Saquan Barkley, A.J Brown, and DeVonta Smith. These are the key players for the Philadelphia Eagles that help make the team better, especially now from when they played the Chiefs back in 2023. The Eagles have grown over time as well with their fan base. The teams that the Eagles are rivals with, their fans are now rooting for the Eagles, not only because they may not like the Chiefs but because their team is not in the Super Bowl and it’s nothing like rooting for your team or a team that you enjoy watching and it comes second best to your favorite team.
