Mahershala Ali In Upcoming Marvel Movie BLADE

On Saturday, July 20th Marvel Studies hosted Comic Con in San Diego. During the event, the company made an announcement that divided fans. Award winning actor, Mahershala Ali was casted to play the character ‘Blade’ in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) adaption. Towards the end of the studio’s big presentation, Kevin Feige joked about not having time to about “Black Panther 2” and “Fantastic Four.” He then preceded to call out for Ali to walk out on stage.

“It looks like you brought your own hat Mahershala,” stated Feige. “What is that?”

Ali then proceeded to place the cap on his head. The hat revealed the word “Blade” in bright red, embroidered letters. In response, the audience began to cheer with shock and joy.

Previously the role was played by Wesley Snipes. In fact, Snipes went on to act in the entire “Blade” trilogy from 1998 to 2004. Although, Ali is undeniably a great actor, fans believe he cannot replace Snipes icon role as a half-man and half-vampire. The character is also known for his superhero capabilities, since he protects humans through the mastery of a swordsman. However, the character was released decades ago in 1973. In this era, Blade was played by John Marley.

As of now, MCU hasn’t released an official release date of the upcoming reboot of “Blade.” The film is supposed to be another addition to Marvel Studios’ Phase Five. Other movies in this phase include, “Thor,” “Doctor Strange,” and even “Infinity Saga.”

Snipes seemed to receive the news way better than fans. He made a statement to ComicBook.com acknowledging his support for Ali and telling fans to support as well.

“To all my DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chilaxxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD,” he stated. “Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’ Much peace to MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly, to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.”
