Amber Riley To Star As "Effie White" In Dreamgirls!
We’re your Dreamgirls, Boyyyys we’ll make you happy! We’ll we should all be really happy. Our favorite Glee Star Amber Riley is going to play Effie White in the UK debut of Dreamgirls! Amber is known for her soulful powerhouse voice that captivated us in the Hit-Series Glee. She just recently played Addaperle, The Good Witch of the North in NBC’s version of the The Wiz, so this movie is right up her alley! Dreamgirls first debuted on Broadway December 20, 1981 at the Imperial Theater in Manhattan and was turned into a film in 2006. The character Effie helped earned Jennifer Holliday a Tony Award and Jennifer Hudson an Academy Award. Maybe it’ll earn Amber an award as well! Dreamgirls is based upon the story of The Supremes and other musical acts, showcasing the story of 3 young girls who quickly rose to fame. The Broadway cast included Jennifer Holliday, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Loretta Devine while the film included Beyonce’, Anika Noni Rose, and Jennifer Hudson. We don’t know who else will be starring with Amber in Dreamgirls, but we all know that she is gonna rock Effie!
