Regina King has always been a storyteller. From her award-winning roles on screen to her acclaimed work behind the camera, she’s built a career on giving life to characters that feel honest and unforgettable. But in 2025, King has found a new way to tell a story—this time, through a bottle of wine. The name—pronounced “me and you”—is shorthand for the bond between King and Ian. Each bottle features Ian’s handwriting, including a stylized “M” that represents their connection. For King, it’s more than design. “This wine allows me to feel like Ian is still with me,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Every glass is a way to honor the moments we had together and create new ones in his memory.”
Crafted in Mendocino County, MianU is a small-batch orange wine blending Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay. Just 500 cases—about 6,000 bottles—exist, making it a rare release. King emphasized that she wanted MianU to be intentional, not mass-market. “I wasn’t interested in slapping my name on something,” she explained in Bon Appétit. “This is about authenticity. About putting love and meaning into every detail.”

The wine’s emotional resonance is already being felt. King recalled testing it with a group of nuns who gave her unexpected validation. “When they tasted it and simply said, ‘Wow,’ I knew we had created something special. It wasn’t just about the flavor—it was about the feeling it sparked.”
This launch also reflects King’s shifting perspective after profound loss. Following Ian’s passing in 2022, she’s spoken about living more fully. “Time, grief, and even the pandemic have changed me,” she shared. “I live in the moment more now. MianU is a piece of that—it’s about savoring what we have while we have it.”
And though King is thriving professionally—with standout appearances at the 2025 Met Gala, starring in Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing, and producing Netflix’s hit Forever—MianU may be her most vulnerable project yet.
With MianU, King isn’t just offering a drink; she’s inviting people into her healing journey. As she put it best: “This wine isn’t about me—it’s about me and Ian. It’s about love, connection, and carrying him forward in every pour.”
