Jerrod Carmichael Inks Deal with 20th Century Fox

This past June fans of The Carmichael Show were shocked to find out that the hilarious sitcom would not be making a return. Although the show may have come to an end, Jerrod Carmichael’s career is only beginning. Twentieth Century Fox Television has recently signed Carmichael to an overall two year deal.

Johnnie Davis, President of Creative Affairs, shared his gratitude for working with Jerrod Carmichael over the years. “The end of The Carmichael Show was a heartbreak for everyone at this studio, and Howard [Kurtzman, President of Business Operations] and I swore we’d be back in business with Jerrod if we had anything to say about it.” He then went on to say, “Lucky for us, he said ‘yes.’ This is a guy whose inspiration is Norman Lear and it’s not hard to see why– he speaks about what’s happening in the world and he gets people talking even if the subject matter is uncomfortable. Oh, and he’s also hilarious. He’s an incredible talent and a ‘television savant’ and we’re thrilled he’s making 20th his exclusive home.”

Under the deal, Carmichael will produce multiple projects for the studio alongside his longtime producing partner, Ari Katcher. As well as writing, supervising other writers, and potentially starring in new shows.
