BET Starts Up Production of ‘The Bobby Brown Story’

If you were a fan of BET’s production of The New Edition Story like I was, I am pretty sure BET’s next upcoming production will have you more than excited. Yes, the rumors are true and the cast has been set, BET has officially started production of The Bobby Brown Story in Atlanta, GA.

Producer and writer Jesse Collins and Abdul Williams have stated that, The Bobby Brown Story, will be predominantly based on Brown’s famous 2016 autobiography, Every Little Step. The story line of the mini series is said to be picked up from where the New Edition Story had left off last, going into his separation from New Edition and all the way up to his recent loss of Bobbi Kristina. BET has announced that Woody

McClain will reprise his role as Bobby. Mekhi Phifer, Milton “Lil Rel” Howery, Lance Gross, Laz Alonso, Sandi McCree, T.K. Carter, and Alyssa Goss are also said to be starring in the two-night mini series event as well. But, no story about the infamous Bobby Brown will be complete without the iconic Whitney Houston making an appearance. BET will be bringing on Rosewood/The Game actress, Gabrielle Dennis, to play Ms. Houston.

During the NAACP Image Awards McClain spoke about the series saying, even though the series will definitely touch on unknown territory, Brown wants everyone to see his struggles so people that plan on going into the industry can see what not to do. “Viewers will be shocked.” said McClain, “We are talking about everything we know and everything we don’t know.”

The Bobby Brown Story is set to premiere this fall in September on BET. Stay tuned for more!
