On September 10th, 2018, The Gospel Music Heritage Month Foundation hosted the 10th“Evolution of Gospel” celebration at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington D.C. This year the event had a tribute in honor of the great, Aretha Franklin featuring performances from Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Holiday, Regina Belle, Kathy Taylor, and Richard Smallwood. The chairman of the Gospel Music Heritage Month Foundation says that “this year we will pay homage to the undisputed and amazing “Queen of Soul” Ms. Aretha Franklin as we celebrate her incredible life on her journey from the church house to the White House.” Can you imagine these talented artists performing Aretha Franklin songs? A show to see! This was a free event that was open to the public. Did I mention it was hosted by the Grammy award winning Dr. Bobby Jones? This event is sponsored by Walker Entertainment Group and Southwest Airlines. This was definitely an event to see and if you didn’t get a chance to see it, be sure to catch it next year! You do not want to miss it. Last year at this event, Earnest Pugh, J.J Hairston, and Donnie McClurkin performed. Clearly the Gospel Music Heritage Month Foundation never fails to bring the best of the best gospel artist so I’m sure you’ll be in for a sweet treat next year!
