Open Windows & Get Some Sage and Incents for Solange’s New Album "When I get Home"

After winning Grammy for best R&B performance with “Cranes in the Sky”, Solange has returned with a new creative album entitled, When I Get Home. Written and produced by her, the 19-track project refers to her hometown Houston, Texas, making this her fourth solo album. Upon releasing the album, Solange posted a video snippet on Instagram telling people to call a phone number that was Houston rappers, Mike Jones. Calling the number played snippets of the songs that were not-yet-released.

Solange finally dropped the album Friday at midnight, March 1st. Solange’s When I Get Home is a combination of relaxing musical frequencies with smooth tempos, poetic rhythms, spoken word, entertaining stories and pretty harmonies and melodies. The album includes collaborations from artist such as Gucci Mane, Tyler, the Creator, Chassol, Playboi Carti, Standing on the Corner, Panda Bear, Devin the Dude, The-Dream, Sampha, and Raphael Saadiq. This album produces a soothing meditation like sound, beginning with “Things I Imagined”. She repeats that line in the song with a lullaby like tone in different patterns, like a mantra. Her calming spirit continues throughout the track list with samples from other Houston natives such as Debbie Allen, poet Pat Parker, Phylicia Rashad and Scarface. Check out Solange’s new album and get a breath of fresh air with her sweet sounds!
