Tamika Scott of Xscape Releases New Single, “Tonite”

Xscape’s Tamika Scott is branching out on her own as a solo artist with her new single, “Tonite.” When explaining the single, Scott emphasized, “I took the track and wrote a R&B anthem for the ladies. I felt the need to be the voice for all the hardworking women in the world. This song is for housewives, career women, adults in school and every hardworking woman grinding and working hard to be successful like myself.” In 2017, Tamika and members of Xscape reunited for a tour after a 15-year hiatus. The group also released an EP that included the top 20 R&B hit single “Memory Lane.” They released the EP without member Kandi Burruss, after renaming the groups stage name to Xscap3.

In her new track “Tonite,” the R&B veteran samples Nas’ “One Mic” instrumental to sing about treating herself to a night of fun. The song is a reflection of self-love, care, and confidence. It’s the theme song for the hard-working women after a long work week. She sings, “It’s the weekend and I’m in my zone. Tonight I’m not trying to be home alone. Just freshened up, hopped out the tub. Ladies free all night at the club. Smelling real good, slip my outfit on. Any little stress that I had is gone.” She assertively reiterates how she is completely drama free and is only here to celebrate herself. Tameka Scott is focused and free in her new single, “Tonite”. Be on the lookout for her upcoming summer EP, The Movie. Check out “Tonite” below!
