Myron Butler Shares His Tribute Through Music

Gospel artist Myron Butler released his new album My Tribute June 26th in order to honor legendary gospel artist Andrae Crouch also known as the “The Father of Modern Gospel”. Andrae Crouch died in January of 2015 and was often known as a major pioneer for modern day gospel music.

Featured on the tribute album are gospel artist: Dorinda Clark- Cole, Fred Hammond, Kim Burrell, Michael Lampkin, Dayanna Redic, Peter Collins, Anthony Hamilton, Kenny Lattimore, Candy West, Shelby 5, Kirk Franklin, Kelontae Gavin, Blanche McAllister- Dykes, and Samoht.

Throughout the album Butler takes all but one non-written song by Crouch to refurbish and cover along the side of other artists while incorporating new musical elements. Crouch was legendary due to him having the talented ability to merge gospel with different genres such as soul, jazz, and pop elements of music.

Butler felt the need to honor Crouch due to his talents and impact he has given to gospel music which has been featured on iconic movies. The album is a celebratory album showing appreciation to Andre Crouch who paved the way for artists and songwriters like Myron Butler.
