The Breakout Artist Who Taught Beyonce and Rihanna Traditional African Dances Debuts New Single

From modeling for name brands like Adidas and Nike to acting in Ava DuVernay’s award-winning series When They See Us to dancing alongside notable icons like Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Teyana Taylor, Wizkid, and Davido, it is clear Nigerian-American artist Papi Ojo is destined for greatness.

At only 22 years old Papi Ojo has worked with this generation's most acclaimed artists and brands. His choreographic mastery is showcased in Beyonce’s music videos Spirit and Already, while his excellence in dancing is seen all throughout Beyonce’s Black is King. He earned himself global recognition and a profile in TIME magazine at the beginning of August 2020. At the young age of 13, he was inspired by his West-African roots and found a calling for music and dance. Papi went on to publish his debut single Awelewa in February 2019, followed by Carry Go.

Not to mention, his latest single that was released on August 7, 2020 Beremole -- translated to "go down low" in his native language, Yoruba. The music video premiered on August 14, 2020, on YouTube and was shot by 35mmdreamfilms, directed by Dotun Abeshinbioke and Papi Ojo, edited by Papi Ojo and 35mmdreamfilms, choreographed by Judith Mccarty and Papi Ojo, and everything was styled by Solidad Nwakibu and Gbayi. The bright and colorful lighting and visuals throughout the video help highlight the high energy dancing and beat. Although quarantine is still in full effect, the video sheds some light on the fun people are longing for and the movement of the camera in some scenes, makes the audience feel as if they are actually there and adds a sense of realism.
