Update: Ava DuVernay's Central Park Five: Who's Who

We recently reported that famed Director, Ava DuVernay, would be teaming with Netflix on a limited Drama series, based on the true story of the 1989 case best known as The Central Park jogger case, that involved the assault, rape, and sodomy of Trisha Meili, a white female jogger and the wrongful conviction of five teenagers (four African American, One Hispanic) from Harlem — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Kharey Wise; better known as the Central Park Five.

It looks like DuVernay is pulling out the big guns when it comes to casting and we can guarantee that this series will be a heavy contender during next year’s award season. Here’s a rundown of all the stars that have joined the project (so far):

Family of Antron McCray

Jovan Adepo (older) & Caleel Harris (younger)

Adepo (Fences) & Harris (Goosebumps 2) will play Antron McCray, another member of the wrongfully convicted five, was later exonerated and released after serving six years in a New York State prison.

Marsha Stephanie Blake Blake (Crown Heights) will play Linda McCray, mother of Antron McCray

Michael K. Williams Past Emmy nominee, The Wire and Hap and Leonard alum Williams is set to portray Bobby McCray, the father of Antron.

Family of Raymond Santana Jr.

Freddy Miyares (older) & Marquis Rodriguez (younger) Newcomer Miyares & Rodriguez (Chicago Fire) will portray Raymond Santana Jr., another member of the wrongfully convicted five, was later exonerated and released.

John Leguizamo Emmy winner, recent Special Tony Award winner and Bloodline star Leguizamo has signed on as Raymond Santana Sr., father of another one of the falsely accused boys of color.

Family of Kharey Wise

Jharrel Jerome (older & younger) Jerome (Moonlight) will play Kharey Wise, one of the wrongfully convicted five who was charged as an adult in the case and served 12 years in prison before being exonerated.

Niecy Nash Nash (Claws) will play Delores Wise, mother of Kharey Wise.

Storm Reid Reid (A Wrinkle in Time) will play Lisa, a friend of Kharey Wise.

Family of Yusef Salaam

Chris Chalk (older) & Ethan Herisse (younger) Chalk (Gotham) & Herisse (Miss Virginia) has signed on as Yusef Salaam, one of the wrongfully convicted five who was charged as an adult in the case and served 12 years in prison before being exonerated.

Aunjanue Ellis Ellis (Quantico) will play Sharone Salaam, mother of Yusef Salaam.

Family of Kevin Richardson

Justin Cunningham (older) & Asante Blackk (younger) Newcomers Cunningham & Blackk have signed on as Kevin Richardson, one of the wrongfully convicted five who was charged as an adult in the case and served 12 years in prison before being exonerated.

Kylie Bunbury Bunbury (Pitch) will play Angie Richardson, sister of Kevin Richardson.

Other Cast Members

Vera Farmiga Oscar nominee and Bates Motel vet Farmiga will be playing Manhattan Assistant D.A. Elizabeth Lederer, who led the prosecution in the cases and still works in the office.

Felicity Huffman Huffman (American Crime) will play Linda Fairstein, the prosecutor who headed the Manhattan district attorney’s sex crimes office during the case.
