Demi Lovato Suffers From Drug Overdose
Demi Lovato, an amazing artist who delivered hits like, “Skyscraper” and “Heart Attack”, starred as the main character of Disney’s hit movie Camp Rock and later got her own show with “Sonny With a Chance”. The singer has had her fair share of ups and downs throughout her career but we’d never think to see something so traumatizing to happen to
her. For years Lovato has opened her life to the public, from eating disorders, self harm, mental issues to her admittance to being captivated and addicted to both alcohol and drugs. Lovato has also been very open about her struggles to stay sober; joining rehab, getting a personal coach, and even living in a sober house. On June 21st, Lovato released a single titled, “Sober”, in which she announced that after six years being sober, she has relapsed. Tuesday,July 24th, Los Angeles Fire Department received a phone call requesting that they transport a 25 year old woman to a hospital for a medical emergency; that woman was Demi Lovato.
Once word reached the media that the star had overdosed, stories about her overdosing on
Heroin arose. However, a representative said that these allegations were untrue and the cause of her overdose still remains a mystery. What we do know is that Demi was partying at Saddle Ranch for one of her backup dancers, Dani Vitale’s, birthday. The party left from the Saddle Ranch and picked back up at Demi’s home where her assistant found her unconscious the next morning. A video of Demi before the overdose has been released but it doesn’t show any sign of her being under the influence of alcohol or any drugs. Demi had to be revived with Narcan, an opioid used to treat an overdose on narcotics, in response to her overdose. She is reportedly awake and is with her family and family who are asking for privacy while the singer recovers.
In the meantime, to replace a scheduled appearance that was cancelled due to her unexpected medical setback, a group of fans who intended to attend the show met up at the location with posters and sang their favorite Demi Lovato songs. Also, her song “Sober” has re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #56. According to a representative from her group, Demi has agreed to attend rehab once she is released from the hospital. We here at The Divah Filez and her many other fans will be supporting her through her journey.
