With two Academy Awards, a Tony Award, multiple Golden Globe and SAG Awards for his outstanding performances- from Glory and Training Day to Malcolm X, Fences, and The Tragedy of Macbeth, Denzel Washington has been taking the film industry by storm for years! For over 5 decades of being on our TV screens and theatres, his presence is both magnetic and transformative as he consistently elevates every project he’s involved in. The New York Times even named him the greatest actor of the 21st century, which isn’t just another acclaim- it’s legendary.
Washington’s latest film, Highest 2Lowest, reunites him with legendary director Spike Lee since their last project, Inside Man (2006). A modern-day representation of Kurosawa’s High and Low, this Neo-Noir thriller places Denzel as David King. He’ll be portraying a powerful music mogul navigating an ethical and emotional kidnapping crisis. The film debuts at Cannes (May 2025) and in theatres in August, with streaming services following up in September.

Denzel Washington isn’t the only big celebrity in this film; he will be joined by talents like Jeffrey Wright, ASAP Rocky, Ilfenesh Hadera, and even Ice Spice.
Some critics suggest Highest2Lowest may be the final film collaboration between Lee and Wadhington, closing off their 5-film partnership as a powerful finishing note. Yet, with Washington recently headlining new projects and garnering major honors, it’s clear he’s far from stopping.
With “Cancel Culture” being on the rise, Denzel remains grounded even amid controversy. In a recent interview, he dismissed cancel culture by emphasizing faith over popularity. “You can’t be canceled if you haven’t signed up.” By mentoring younger stars, commanding respect and influence, and receiving honors and awards, Denzel Washington will forever be the GOAT on our screens. He continues to break new ground with fresh roles, prestigious collaborations, and unwavering integrity.

Denzel Washington has always been a perfect example of Black Excellence, further defining his title as he will always and forever be our GOAT!
