KINGDOM BOOK ONE- MAVERICK CITY MUSIC X KIRK FRANKLIN

On June 17, 2022, Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin released Kingdom Book One which created an inspirational moment in music history. The eleven-track album was formed with the message of injustice and mass incarceration in mind. Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin wanted to raise awareness for the issues many people fail to understand and care about. They took the message of the album a step further by going to Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami where 1,300 inmates helped bring the vision together.

1,300 inmates suffering and facing the trials and tribulations the Kingdom Book One album addresses were able to sing, dance, and be acknowledged in the tracks. The album offers studio recordings and live recordings which gives the audience a great variety as to how they would like to experience Kingdom Book One. The album has such a raw and powerful sound that it merits an emotional response from its audience. Songs like “Kingdom” and “Bless Me” have already become fan favorites, and with featured artists like Naomi Raine, Chandler Moore, Brandon Lake, Lizzie Morgan, and Dante Brown, this album is destined for greatness.

Kingdom Book One is only the first part as the title explains. Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin have plenty more events and performances coming up to further spread their important message. They will be appearing on The View on Monday, June 20, NPR Tiny Desk’s Black Music Month on Friday, June 24, and performing at the BET Awards on Sunday, June 26. Followed by the continuation of ‘The Kingdom Tour’ which is still selling out arenas and breaking touring records across the U.S. The tour begins on Saturday, June 18 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI, and concludes on Sunday, August 07 at Hollywood Casino Amp in Chicago, IL. The final four performances of the tour (Kansas City, Cleveland, St. Paul, and Chicago) will be called “Kingdom Nights” where Grammy award-winning artist Tamela Mann will make a special guest appearance.
