Teyonah Parris & Anthony Mackie to Star in Netflix’s “Point Blank” Remake
Teyonah Parris and Anthony Mackie have now been added to star in Netflix’s “Point Blank” Remake. The film will also star Marcia Gay Harden, Frank Grillo (Kingdom), Boris McGiver (House of Cards), Markice Moore (The Paynes), Nik Pajic, and Christian Cooke (Where the Heart Is).
The movie is a reboot of Fred Cayaye’s 2010 French crime drama with the same title. It tells the story of how Paul (Mackie), an emergency room nurse, and Abe (Grillo), a wanted murder suspect, go toe to toe with rival gangsters and corrupt cops. They go into a race to save Paul’s kidnapped wife and unborn son. Cooke will be playing Grillo’s brother, who kidnaps Mackie’s wife and holds her for ransom. It has not yet been stated who Teyonah Parris will play in the movie.
Joe Lynch is set to direct the movie from a script by Adam G. Simon. Joe Carnahan and Grillo are producing for the War Party Banner, while Johanna Byer is producing for Gaumont. Gaumont’s Sidonie Dumas, Christophe Riandee and Gene Stein are also executive producers of the movie.
The story is set in Cincinnati according to the film’s producer and vice president of US Films for Gaumont, Johanna Bye. “Point Blank” will began filming on Monday in Allison Harten’s Cincinnati home. Lynch expects to be in Cincinnati for seven weeks to film.
