The NFL Takes It to Church
Early last month the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration aired on February 6th which is the 22nd Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration. Gospel artists such as Erica Campbell, Kierra Sheard, Koryn Hawthorne, John P. Kee, and more celebrity artists alongside NFL players. Teaming up with BET networks the QB Dak Prescott from the Dallas Cowboys and QB Tom Brady from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make an appearance alongside All-Star NFL players. They appeared to congratulate QB Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans on receiving the 2021 “Faith In Action” Award.
Deshaun Watson received the reward based on his leadership efforts on and off the field with honoring his community service providing assistance to under-served youth and families. 25 year old Watson has made his presence on and off the field after committing to Clemson University and then being drafted to the NFL in 2017.
“First, I want to say thank you to Warrick Dunn for your kind words,” said Watson. “Thank you for blessing me and my family when I was a little boy and inspiring me to fulfill my dreams and do the things that I want to do. And just really being a blessing around the country. So, thank you, man,” said Watson.
Oddly enough Watson received help through Habitat of Humanity and Warrick Dunn when Dunn was with the Atlanta Falcons. Dunn had the opportunity to give a house to Watson and his family in the mid 2000s. The opportunity and grace that was given to Watson at a young age has shown to have an impact on his life to go back and commit to servicing the community he resides in.
Please check out his response to receiving the award and the special appearances from award winning gospel artists and message from actor Courtney B. Vance.
