Master P Biopic: The King of the South

This Summer Master P plans to join the likes of NWA, Tupac and Biggie Smalls with the filming of King of the South, a biopic on the life of the No Limit Records founder. The film is set to follow Percy Miller through his childhood growing up in the Calliope Projects of New Orleans all the way to the founding of No Limit Records, an independent hip-hop label that sold over 100 million records.

In a statement Miller said that, “it was tough back then especially being from the South, New Orleans was the murder capital at the time. I want others to learn from my mistakes and understand my work ethic of never giving up, no matter what it may look like.” He has also promised that New Orleans would play a very important role in the making of the film to capture an authentic image.

Queen Latifah and Wendell Pierce (HBO’s The Wire) are set to appear, however casting is still open. For New Orleans natives interested in joining the film, they were invited to attend an open casting yesterday in Gretna, Louisiana from 11am to 5pm. We will keep you all updated with any future information.
