Back in 2009 with Taylor Gang and Jet Life Leaders

Pittsburgh and New Orleans rappers, Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y, linked to create another classic album, entitled 2009. The two’s New Joint Album was released February 8, 2019 via Jet Life Recordings and Atlantic Records. The album consists of 14 tracks, including collaborations with Problem,Ty Dolla $ign, Harry Fraud, Sledgren, Dame Grease and many others. Wiz and Curren$y's previously collaborated on "How Fly", which was released in the actual year 2009. 2009 is a follow-up to Wiz and Curren$y's 2013 Live in Concert EP. In addition to dropping a joint album, the two also went on tour. It began in Seattle on February 8 and ended on March 9, which began in San Francisco and ended in San Antonio.

The album is a reunion and celebration of growth and humbleness. The two unique stoner rappers flow together nostalgically throughout the album 2009. With herbal baked vibes and smooth flows, they reminisce about the throwback year 2009. Listening to the album moves you back to the time you first discovered Wiz Khalifa. The sounds are the same and familiar intentionally. In the song, “Stoned Gentleman” Curren$y raps, “One of the originals who showed you fools how to turn the internet rhymes into residuals,” reminding this generation that he and Wiz are one of the rappers that paved the way for viral buzz.

In another track Khalifa blatantly and honestly says, “My closest filled with all types of sh*t It’s bad you’d probably work your whole life for this and I’ll get it in one night.” The joint album is another additive to the classics the two have already created. From “Garage Talk” to “Forever Ball”, the album is a nonstop jam. If you hadn’t already heard it, be sure to check it out!
