2019 MTV Awards

It’s that time again! 27 years ago the MTV Movie & TV Awards (formally known as MTV Movie Awards) was created. Back in 1992, the awards was filmed at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank,California. Dennis Miller who is an American talk show host, political commentator, sports commentator, actor, and comedian hosted the first ever MTV Movie Awards. The awards started out with 14 major categories with some of the awards retiring over time. In the past, this award ceremony was hosted by some of your favorites like Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jimmy Fallon, Lindsay Lohan, Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba just to name a few. This awards show honors and pays homage to the best of the best when it comes to the popularity in film and television. This year’s show was hosted by “Shazam!” star Zachary Levi. The two biggest awards of the night goes to the honorees of the Trailblazer and Generation awards.The MTV Trailblazer Award recipient paves the way for others that work in the movie industry. The award is given to an actor that managed to inspire others with a diverse portfolio of work and a transcendent reputation in the public eye. The MTV Generation Award is the successor to the MTV Lifetime Achievement Award, the recipient of the award is celebrated for great achievement in movie. Previous winners of the MTV Generation Awards were Tom Cruise being the first awarded in 2005, Sandra Bullock (2010) and Robert Downey Jr. (2015) amongst other talented individuals. Emma Stone (2012) started off the being the first Trailblazer Award honoree , Channing Tatum (2014), and Lena Waithe (2018). Jada Pinkett Smith who came on the scene in 1990 quickly made a name for herself and took home the 2019 Trailblazer Award. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for the last 17 years appeared in more than 40 films and TV highlights. Lizzo performed her hit “Juice” and Bazzi graced the stage with his song “Paradise”. Most of your favorites were nominated, presenters and winners. According to viewers, bloggers and fans named Sandra Bullock as having the best emotional speech as she brought home her golden popcorn trophy for her role in Bird Box. Until next time everyone...
