Derrick Rose Found Not Guilty in Rape Case!

Back in August 2013 NBA star Derrick Rose (28) and two friends Randall Hampton and Ryan Allen were accused of gang raping a young woman. The accuser claimed that after having potentially drugged drinks with the guys at her home in Beverly Hills, they later that night let themselves into her home and had their way with her without consent.

Last Wednesday a jury found the NBA star and his friends not guilty of sexually assaulting the accuser. It took The Los Angeles federal court jury just under four hours to find that the accuser did not have enough proof in her claim that she was gang raped by Rose and his two friends in her California home.

Hampton and Allen both acknowledged that they had sex with the woman but claim it was consensual. Rose however, later denied the comment. Rose missed a big part of the basketball season due to the trial, and in a prepared statement he said, “I am thankful that the jury understood and agreed with me, I am ready to put this behind me and focus on my family and career.” Rose thanked each juror individually and even took pictures.

Mark Baute, Rose’s lawyer said, “We are very happy the system worked, all three men were innocent from day one.” The accuser’s lawyer, Waukeen McCoy, on the other hand was not pleased with the verdict and is currently weighing an appeal. Jurors however, were very stern in their decision. One of the jurors who gave her name as Janet explained, “I do not want to call her a liar. I do not want to call her anything. I just didn’t feel like there was enough evidence. There just wasn’t enough.”
